About Beekeeper John

Beekeeper John started beekeeping at the tender age of 13, when he was the school beekeeper (much more interesting than algebra). That experience ignited a lifelong love of honeybees – and of delicious, unadulterated, artisan honey.

Twelve years ago, he began beekeeping in earnest in the South Hams area of Devon, and he now has apiaries on superbly bee-friendly sites in the lovely villages of Dartington, Littlehempston, Galmpton and Canonteign.

He likes his bees well mannered, so he breeds his own queens from the gentle Buckfast strain of honeybee.

And he’s not alone

Matt’s a novice beekeeper who’s been helping Beekeeper John for an afternoon a week through the summer - and the bees all love him. He’s getting mighty knowledgeable about honeybees.
